Sisal is a hard, very strong fibre obtained from a special species of agave. The fibre is extracted from the leaves by hand or by a semi-mechanical method. Because of these properties, sisal is very stiff and resistant to load. Sisal cord is well suited to cat scratching posts and is used for decoration, construction and farming.
